چکیده:

The kinetic behavior of the LaNiO3 catalyst in the reforming reaction of methane with carbon dioxide was investigated as a function of temperature and partial pressures of CH4 and CO2. There are two kinds of active sites on the catalyst surface. In the first one Ni reacts with CH4 and in the second La2O3 reacts with CO2. Fresh catalyst was characterized by BET and XRD techniques. XRD pattern of the spent catalyst has shown that the phase La2O2CO3 has formed which confirmed displayed mechanism. Based on the mechanistic results, a kinetic model was developed, which was found to predict the reaction rate measurements satisfactorily. Methane cracking and the surface reaction between C and oxycarbonate species are suggested to be the rate determining steps of the CH4/CO2 reaction over the LaNiO3 catalyst.
